Santhosa – ‘’The Quiet Road to Contentment”.

This is the pivotal philosophy underlying Santhosa Yoga & Meditation Shala (gathering place for like minded people).

The practice of yoga is a lifestyle for Shirani who is the sole teacher and the therapist. She has attempted to recreate the ambience of Sri Lanka and rural India to give the shala the peaceful and harmonious environment that compliments the practice.

She has travelled to India in search of the essence of Yoga and has been influenced by the many teachings of Yogis like Sri Krishnamacharya, B.K.S Iyengar A.G Mohan and Swami Sivananda.

Shirani’s teaching comes from a culmination of theortical knowledge gained from the Australian College of Classical Yoga -Melbourne Victoria, Kashmir Shaivism School of Yoga Teaching Training – Dhramshala India (Levels 1 & 2 including yoga as therapy ).

The asana practice has been gained from several senior Iyengar teachers both in Australia and India. The practice is embedded in B.K.S Iyengar’s teaching style and the philosophy, “to be with the atma”(the true Self).
